All time American Teen Movie Favourites
/As a rule, I hate them. They're crude, rude, full of precocious, please-someone-smack-that, smart-arsed teens who know it all and teach everyone something... blah blah... kill me now.
However- my home is invaded by a housefull of teenagers so I get to see a lot of movies... These I did actually really enjoy.
Rather than individually give these a rap I thought it best just to say- 'watch them!' They generally follow the theme of boy gets girl, teen angst moments, humour and flashes of existential depth that only an honest teen instant can provide.
ADORED Fired Up! (2009 Nicholas D'Agosto, Eric Christian Olsen and
Sarah Roemer) Very funny.
LOVED The Sure Thing (1985- John Cusack)
10 Things I Hate About You (1999 Heath Ledger :( and Julia Stiles)
Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012 Logan Lermann, Ezra Miller and Emma Watson) Heavy, slow, but meaningful.
She's the Man (2006 Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum) Funny.
The Covenant (2006 Steven Strait, Sebastian Stan, Taylor Kitsch). Sci Fi. For some reason I really liked it. Teen thriller.
Tomorrow When the War Began (2010 Caitlin Stasey, Deniz Akdeniz and Chris Pang). Action and worth a look. Shits all over the American versions.
Easy A (2010 Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes and Penn Badgely). Very funny.
I am Number Four (2011 Alex Pettyfer and Timothy Oliphant)- I don't really know why- the plot requires a great suspension of disbelief, but hey, what the hell?
